OpenRoads Designer Essentials Training
Who is this course for?
This course is for experienced MicroStation users who are looking to create road-related projects in OpenRoads Designer and wish to learn the basics.
What will you learn?
As an introduction to the principles of OpenRoads parametric design, this course explores the tools for creating carriageways, adding and modifying lanes, junctions, slip roads and driveways. You will also learn how to modify and manipulate road designs, create cross sections, plans and profile sheets.
Length: Two days
Time: 9.30 am to 4.30 pm
Where: Online or in-person
Pre-requisites: This course assumes a sound working knowledge of MicroStation 2D, including the use of AccuDraw techniques and shortcuts. Otherwise, attendance of the MicroStation Fast Track for CAD Users or the MicroStation Essentials course is recommended prior to embarking on this training.

- Exploring the OpenRoads Designer Interface
- Using ground terrain
- Creating Centreline geometry
- Horizontal and Vertical alignments and reports
- Understanding OpenRoads constraints and connections
- Creating and controlling road geometry
- Corridor modelling and templates
- Creating carriageways, side roads and additional lanes
- Corridor clipping
- Adding kerbs, driveways and other road features
- Editing parametric constraints
- Working with cross sections
- Plans and profile sheets
