Women in BIM podcast: Digital Leadership

Share Article

The first Women In BIM (WIB) podcast for 2022 features Vicki Reynolds Chief Technology Officer at i3PT and Cadventure’s very own MD, Elaine Lewis: two immensely talented and successful women in business, leading the field internationally in BIM and Digital Construction.

In this episode, entitled ‘Digital Leadership’, Vicki and Elaine discuss leadership, building confidence, empowerment, imposter syndrome, and why it’s important to recognise your accomplishments and the accomplishments of others.

Elaine explains both the joys and the challenges of running a business, and how she has worked hard to build a diverse team that supports each other’s strengths, whilst practicing what they preach.

About the speakers:

Vicki Reynolds, Chief Technology Officer, i3PT

Vicki is the Chief Technology Officer for i3PT and former Global Vice Chair for Women in BIM. Vicki has held senior various roles across a number of high-profile construction projects in the UK. Vicki’s experience as a BIM Consultant with Turner & Townsend saw her develop procedures and roll out best practice on projects such as the Battersea Power Station Development Project and the iconic Shell Tower Refresh on London’s South Bank.

During her time at Multiplex, Vicki developed and implemented a plan for the digital upskilling of hundreds of employees, helping the organisation to transition to model first project delivery.

A UK BIM Alliance Ambassador and member of the digital construction special interest group for the CIOB, Vicki is an active member of the BIM and digital construction community, both in the UK and globally.

Vicki is extremely passionate about diversity in the construction industry, and works hard to attract, promote and retain women in digital construction roles.

Vicki regularly presents at schools, colleges and universities to promote STEM and construction to girls in education and works hard to encourage women of all ages and experiences to consider construction as a viable and rewarding career option.

Elaine Lewis, Managing Director, Cadventure

With a strong business education and commercial background, Elaine leads a team of talented and committed individuals providing software and services for Architects and Engineers in the UK.

Cadventure is one of Bentley’s largest resellers in Europe, respected for its strategic business advice, pragmatic technical expertise, and exceptional customer service. The company also sells, supports and trains clients in a wide range of other software, including Vectorworks, Bluebeam and Solibri.

Elaine has operated in this AEC sector for 25 years and is a non-Executive Director for the UK BIM Alliance, she acts as a judge for Digital Innovation for The European Women in Construction & Engineering Awards and in 2020 became a Women in BIM Mentor.

Elaine is passionate about implementing digital transformation in a planned, measured and cost-effective way to benefit the project, the team, and the client. She believes this should be to reduce risk, optimise cost, measure performance and derive productivity benefits across the lifecycle of the asset.
